Will Testosterone Help You Lose Fat?

The human body has various parts, organs, hormones, and cells that either work together or have their distinct features. One of those essential hormones that are available in both genders is Testosterone.

Experts opine that testosterone remains an essential hormone in the body. It regulates blood flow, keeps the male sexual health in top gear, responsible for strong bones and muscle mass development.

Interestingly, there are certain levels of testosterone performance. At every level, this hormone has its distinct feature and performance capability in the human body. For instance, an adequate level of testosterone helps the maturation of sperm cells and increases men’s fertility.

As for testosterone deficiency, you are more likely to gain more weight, retarded muscle growth, and weak bone strength. Not to worry, there are quite a number of supplements that boost testosterone and burn fat with ease.

After years of research and findings, the question of whether testosterone will help you lose fat still lingers. Some health and fitness experts will put it as “can testosterone lead to fat loss or gain?”

It is on this premise that we tend to understudy the importance of testosterone and proffer answers to these questions.

Importance of Testosterone

Testosterone, like every hormone in the human body, will send messages once they enter the blood. These messages vary and would be transported to targeted cells. During transportation, these hormones will find compatible cells, link together and bind receptors.

If you visit the clinic and realize that you have an optimal level of testosterone, good for you! However, there are individuals (especially men), who realize that their testosterone level is low.

For the latter set of individuals, there are testosterone supplements or drugs that you can take to boost your testosterone level and capability.

Some of the reasons why you should ensure your testosterone is at an adequate level include;

Increased Muscle Mass

Your testosterone level is directly proportional to your muscle mass building. A balanced or continuously increasing testosterone level will lead to increased muscle mass. Similarly, protein is another micronutrient that will help you build enough muscles.

You need enough muscle to regulate your weight and burn calories. If your testosterone is functioning at an optimal level, your muscle produces more energy and strength. This energy will in turn burn excess calories and regulate your body weight.

Fat control And Loss

A lack of testosterone or low testosterone will lead to a decline in your muscle mass. At this level, the fat cell starts producing aromatase. This aromatase is an enzyme that converts testosterone to estrogen.

So once the conversion begins, your testosterone and estrogen level becomes unbalanced, thereby leading to excess body fat. Albeit, a balanced testosterone level will keep fats in check and prevent excess fat storage in your body.

Once your testosterone is running low, it becomes difficult for your body system to build and maintain muscle mass. Similarly, your muscle mass directly affects your weight loss and gain.

So if you are unable to maintain a balanced muscle mass due to low testosterone, you tend to gain more fat. Since muscle mass is responsible for burning calories in your body, you will find it difficult to burn calories and fat will continue to accumulate in your body.

Healthy Fertility And Sexual Life

One of the foremost importance of testosterone is to maintain a healthy sexual life and increase fertility in men. The male testicles and female ovaries produce the hormone.

The testosterone at its optimal level ensures the maturation of sperm cells and the production of high sperm count. It is also responsible for the maintenance of female fertility.

Conclusion

You would recall that we mentioned earlier the lingering question of whether testosterone can help you lose fat. Consequently, we examined the importance of testosterone (as a hormone) in the body. Being one of the most important male sex hormones, it is also responsible for fat loss and weight maintenance.

Similarly, some supplements boost testosterone and burn fat. So if you realize that your testosterone level is low, you can get these supplements. They will help increase your testosterone level and ensure the loss of excess fat and weight in the body.
